Thebig cable goes from the +ve battery feed (n/s inner wing) to the starter motor, then onto the alternator. A small +ve wire goes from the starter relay (I presume) to the starter solenoid. Ignition switch sends a smallish current to the solenoid, which energises, fires out the starter cog, which engages the starter motor.
