The Sukhoi Su-35 (Russian: Сухой Су-35; NATO reporting name: Flanker-E) is the designation for two improved derivatives of the Su-27 air-defence fighter. They are single-seat, twin-engine, supermaneuverable air superiority fighters, designed by the Sukhoi Design Bureau and built by Sukhoi. Fantastic analogy. The Mig-29 vs F-16 was a very hot debate once. It is unfortunate that we cannot extend that analogy (Su-35 to F-22 doesn't really work because of the stealth difference and T-50 to F-22 doesn't work because we simply do not know enough about the T-50). The Su-27 Flanker and the MiG-29 Fulcrum were both designed and built by Russia to fight World War III side-by-side. With the fall of the Berlin Wall, that conflict didn't happen. However, the two Russian fighters would square off over Eastern Africa. Since Eritrea won its independence from Ethiopia in 1993, a border dispute had been simmering
The Soviets started two parallel programs around the time the US was doing the F15/F16 programs. Their objectives were to counter the F-15, producing the higher performance SU-27 and the F-16, producing the MiG-29. The MiG-29 was, perhaps surprisingly, flown by a Canadian pilot at an air show and quickly debriefed.

It is much more remarkable to see a Su-37 do those gut renching manuevers with its size, weight and bulk as compared to the smaller and lighter mig-2
